3 Day Isle of Skye Tour

Explore the stunning and dramatic scenery of the Isle of Skye with a three day tour from Inverness that includes the Trotternish and Sleat Peninsulas – and discover its ancient history, heritage and culture.
Day 1 begins at Inverness where we follow Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle and discover its links with many of the important events in Highlands history. Turning west we journey through Glen Moriston to Glen Shiel and the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains. Before arriving at Eilean Donan Castle we take a short detour up Mam Ratagan for one of the best viewpoints in the Scottish Highlands. At Eilean Donan Castle we explore its historic past before we cross the bridge to Skye. Our journey through the Isle of Skye takes us to the Red Hills and along to the old bridge at Sligachan and its great view of the peaks of the Black Cuillin, before our arrival in Portree where we will overnight for the next two days.
Day 2 begins with a journey to the Trotternish Peninsula for stunning views of the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock before we take a drive up the old cattle pass road to the Quiraing. Looking down onto the village of Staffin below and across the sea to the north west Highlands, the Quiraing is one of the highlights of the whole trip to the Isle of Skye. Continuing around the peninsula we visit the Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir. The afternoon takes us across to Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod one of the Hebrides most powerful clans. As well as being one of the oldest continually inhabited castle in Scotland, Dunvegan also has wonderful gardens to explore before we return to Portree.
Day 3 begins with time in Portree before we head south to the wonderful Sleat Peninsula, known as ‘the garden of Skye'. One of the less explored areas of Skye, the Sleat Peninsula is home to a stunning coastline, heather-clad hills and plenty of opportunities to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds. We stop at Isleornsay with its stunning views across to the Knoydart peninsula and where we also have the opportunity to enjoy some Hebridean whisky tasting! After visiting Armadale, the early afternoon takes us over to the remote western side to explore the breath-taking coastal scenery of the Sleat peninsula, before we begin our return journey to Inverness.

Tours are exclusively for your private group only (up to 3 persons) and prices are per tour. Accommodation Options
We recommend that you book accommodation in Portree for both nights to make the most of your trip. Whilst we do not book accommodation for you we are happy to help with advice on where to stay and eat. The tour quote will include a list of accommodation recommendations and suggestions for overnight locations.
Please note that accommodation options in Portree are often booked quite far in advance. We can consider alternative overnight locations around the Isle of Skye such as Uig, Edinbane, Dunvegan, Broadford, Isleornsay and Armadale, though ideally an evening meal option needs to be within walking distance. Please email with any specific suggestions and we will endeavour to adapt the itinerary to suit if possible.

The tour itinerary is based on experience, previous clients feedback and timings. However, we have some flexibility and the tour itinerary can be adapted (in advance) to suit specific requests if possible.
